We are pleased that you would like to shop in our online shop! Here we explain to you in a simple and understandable way how customs clearance works and the costs involved.
Customs clearance and costs
If you place an order with us and have it shipped to Switzerland, the following costs must be taken into account:
- Value of goods and shipping costs : These are the regular costs for your order.
- Swiss Value Added Tax (VAT) : This amounts to 7.7% on the total value of the goods including shipping costs.
- Customs tariff : In most cases, no customs duty is payable, but there are exceptions. The customs tariff depends on the type of goods. Use the Swiss Customs TARES database to determine the exact customs tariff for your product.
- Handling fees : These fees may be charged by the shipping service provider that handles customs clearance for you. These fees vary depending on the service provider and are often between 10 and 20 euros.
Example:
- Value of goods (net price) : 100 Euro
- Shipping costs : 10 euros
- Total value of the shipment : 110 euros
- Swiss VAT (7.7%) : 8.47 Euro
- Processing fee : 10 Euro (assumed)
So in total you pay:
- 110 Euro (value of goods + shipping)
- 8.47 Euro (Swiss VAT)
- 10 Euro (processing fee)
Summary:
- Additional costs arise from Swiss VAT, possible customs duties and processing fees of the shipping service provider.
